1970 Plymouth AAR ’Cuda – Real Deal, Drive Ready Icon

This genuine 1970 AAR ’Cuda hardtop is a rare, strong-running example of Mopar pony car history. With a title-verified 47,249 actual miles, it’s been restored some years ago and shows approximately 2,000 miles on the correct (non-original) AAR/TA-spec drivetrain. One of just 2,724 produced, this is no clone.

Exterior:
Finished in striking Tor-Red, the paint presents very well with crisp AAR graphics, a flat black AAR hood treatment, and signature hood scoop. Rubber front bumper and Chrome rear bumper, exhaust tips, hood pins and 15-inch Mopar Rallye wheels are all in excellent condition. Noted imperfections include minor bubbling on lower quarters, some uneven paint in door jambs, cracked paint in spots, and a small area of exposed rust at the bottom edge of one rocker panel. I would not touch these areas until I was ready to do the entire car over again – these areas are solid and I think it’s mainly due to bad paint prep.

Interior:
Approximately 98% original, the black interior is outstanding. High-back bucket seats, rear seating, and molded panels show virtually no wear. The Rallye gauge cluster (150-mph speedometer) shows some scratches and can be upgraded easily with a new wood grain applique, the center console automatic (slap stick) shifter, and the original (non-working) AM radio remains in place. The carpet, headliner, belts, and trunk area are all clean and well-kept. Someone used plain rivets when replacing the dash pad – we all know that’s a no-no, but they make the correct rosette rivets like that factory used.

Drivetrain:
Powered by a casting-number-correct AAR/TA 340ci V8 rated at 290 hp with a proper Six Pack setup. Backed by a Torqueflite A727 automatic and 8.75 “Suregrip” rear with 3.55 gears. Power front disc brakes provide confident stopping as does the quick ratio T/A power steering.

Undercarriage:
Very clean and dry with only minimal surface rust on hardware. Stock-style dual exhaust exits correctly ahead of the rear wheels. Factory-style torsion bar front suspension and rear leaf springs. The trunk was sprayed with GM-like spatter paint, another no-no but can easily be remedied.

Driving Impressions:
Smooth, strong, and responsive with excellent sound and road manners. Everything functions as it should, aside from the radio, though the engine note is far better company.

Summary:
A rare opportunity to own an authentic, well-presented 1970 AAR ’Cuda—an iconic muscle car that delivers both presence and performance. A standout piece that won’t stay long. This car is a very solid running and driving car – want to go to the west coast? Gas it up – she’s ready to roll…. Fly in and drive home!!

No Trades - sorry.
